If your Google Business Profile keeps getting suspended, something about it still does not match Google's guidelines or your real-world business. Reinstatement brings the profile back, but only fixing the underlying mismatch keeps it there. Use this checklist after every reinstatement and before any change.
The prevention checklist
Name
- Exactly as it appears on your signage and branding.
- No keywords, locations, taglines, phone numbers, URLs or opening hours.
- No all-capital words, and no LLC or Ltd unless it is always part of your branding.
Address and service area
- A real place you operate from, not a P.O. box, mailbox or virtual office.
- Co-working only with clear signage and your own staff present during business hours.
- Address hidden if you travel to customers and do not serve them there.
- Service area roughly within two hours' drive of your base, as Google suggests.
Setup
- One profile per location; no duplicates for extra towns.
- The fewest categories that describe what your business is.
- Phone number and website that go directly to your business.
- An honest description with no links, promotions or gimmicky characters.
Account and access
- Only people you trust have owner or manager access.
- Your Google account is secured, so no one else can make changes.
Change the profile safely
Many repeat suspensions follow edits. When something about your business really changes:
- Update the real world first: signage, registration, website and utility bills.
- Change one thing at a time on the profile, starting with the most important.
- Expect Google to ask you to verify again, possibly by video. Our video verification guide explains how.
- Never create a new profile to get around a problem.

Keep your evidence ready
Store current copies of the documents Google accepts (business registration or licence, tax certificates and a recent utility bill) with the same name and address as the profile, plus photos of your signage or branded equipment. If a suspension does happen, you can appeal the same day.
Check in regularly
- Look at the profile monthly for edits you did not make. Google and users can suggest changes.
- Watch your email for notices from Google about the profile.
- Re-check the guidelines occasionally; Google updates them.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my Google Business Profile keep getting suspended?
Usually because the root cause was never fixed, for example a virtual office address or keywords in the name, or because new edits reintroduced a problem.
Can other people change my profile?
Users and Google can suggest edits to public information, so check your profile regularly and correct anything inaccurate.
Should I stop editing my profile altogether?
No. Keep it accurate, but update the real world first and make changes one at a time.
