To get a suspended Google Business Profile reinstated, you need to find and fix what broke Google's guidelines, gather documents that prove your business name and address, and submit one appeal through Google's appeals tool. This guide covers each step in order.
Step 1: Confirm what was suspended
Check whether one profile is suspended, or your whole Google account is restricted. If the account is restricted, every profile you manage is affected and you cannot create or claim others. Google says you must appeal the account restriction first, on your My accounts page, before appealing individual profiles.
Step 2: Find the likely cause
Compare the profile with Google's guidelines. The usual suspects are keywords in the name, an ineligible address (P.O. box, mailbox, virtual office), a visible address on a service-area business, duplicate profiles, keyword-style categories and a burst of recent edits. Our list of 12 common reasons goes through each one.
Step 3: Fix the profile once
Correct what is wrong in a single, deliberate set of changes. Write down what you changed so you can explain it in the appeal. Do not create a new profile for the same business; Google specifically warns against it.
Step 4: Gather your evidence
Google lists the documents it accepts. Make sure the business name and address on each match the profile exactly:
- Official business registration
- Business licence
- Tax certificates
- Utility bills: electricity, phone, water or internet
Add clear photos of your permanent signage and shopfront, or of your branded vehicle and equipment if you serve customers at their location.
Step 5: Submit the appeal
- Open Google's Business Profile appeals tool.
- Confirm the account, then select the profile and the decision you are appealing.
- Add a short explanation of what you corrected, and attach your documents.
- Check the readiness box and submit.
Our appeals tool guide explains each screen and what the statuses mean.
Step 6: Wait, and do not edit
Google emails you the decision. Its appeals page does not give a timeframe, so avoid editing the profile while you wait. For realistic expectations, see How Long Does Reinstatement Take?
Step 7: If the appeal is not approved
Appeals can only be submitted once. Google may run an additional review only after a denial, and only with new evidence that was not in the original appeal, through its local appeals contact form. See Appeal Rejected?
After reinstatement
- Check that your name, address, hours and categories are as you left them.
- Keep the profile within the guidelines so it is not suspended again.
- Make future changes one at a time, with signage and documents updated first.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get my Google Business Profile back after suspension?
In many cases, yes, once the issue is fixed and the appeal shows matching evidence. Google makes the final decision, so a careful first appeal matters.
Is there a form to request reinstatement?
Yes. Reinstatement requests go through Google's Business Profile appeals tool. After a denial, new evidence can be submitted through the local appeals contact form.
What if I have more than 10 suspended profiles?
Google offers bulk reinstatement: answer "Yes" to the bulk question in the tool and attach a spreadsheet of Business Profile IDs with supporting documents.
